My Hometown

I was born in Washington DC (the actual city) in 1979 before spending most of my life living directly north in Silver Spring, Maryland. Not until I was in my late 20’s did I begin to comprehend the effect the city had on my development as a man and my opinions on America, women, and Western culture, the bulk of which shapes my thinking and current work to this day. If only my parents decided to have birthed me in a place like Florida or Texas, I would have had a simpler life, but I am who I am because of the nearly 30 years I have spent in DC, for better or worse. As much as I dislike the city, I’m proud to come back to present my speech to my fellow peers.
